I am a former Army officer who spent most of the last 25 years working in intelligence and leading Soldiers. I began my career in intelligence working for the US Department of State, and ended it at the National Ground Intelligence Center, but in between, spend nearly every other assignment with tactical Army units. I deployed seven times, four of those to Iraq, and have been recognized for my expertise on Iraq, the Middle East, and other topics such as counterinsurgency. Since retiring from the military, I’ve brought my passion for leadership, mentoring and coaching, personal and professional development and the practical use of advanced technology into the K-12 education arena, actively working with teachers and educators across the country, at #edcamps, education conferences, and CUE Rockstar events. I am currently an instructor for Angelo State University, teaching intelligence, analysis and security studies courses for undergraduates full-time. I’m still married to the amazing Kristin La Flamme (blog, Instagram) and we lived in Portland, OR these days. I am active in the Portland Mini car club scene (PDXMini), and should be returning to the track with Hooked on Driving in 2016. I am, and will always be, an avid photographer, and I miss my days of trail running on Oahu.
